Broadly, my research centers on understanding mental health and social problems affecting LGBTQ youth and addressing these problems through effective psychosocial interventions. My research tends to focus on:
- LGBTQ young people (i.e., adolescents and emerging adults) during the critical transitional period between childhood and adulthood
- Internalizing mental health problems (i.e., depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation and behavior)
- Social stressors that threaten mental health (e.g., harassment, bullying, violence, rejection, microaggressions, and discrimination)
- Interventions at multiple socio-ecological levels (e.g., clinical mental health interventions, cultural competency interventions with helping professionals, school climate interventions, and policy interventions)
